BHP Forecasts Copper Demand Surge Through 2035

The Chinese government's announcement of many stimulus measures to boost the country's struggling property market and battered economy was the primary driver of the uptick in iron ore production.

Copper production increased by 4% to 476 kt during the quarter as a result of the mine's better performance at the Escondida location in Chile. Higher grades and throughput were the main drivers of the Escondida mine's output. After port operations were streamlined and the South Flank ramp up was implemented, WAIO's production saw a 2% boost.

It is important to remember that the corporation has been aiming to grow its copper business. It had recently worked with Lundin Mining to acquire Filo Corp. The 1,845 kt–2,045 kt copper production target for FY25 was left unaltered by BHP.
