worldsteel Recognized Steel Majors for Excellence in Health and Safety

Since 2018, Ternium Brazil has started utilizing robots for a variety of purposes.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has recognized six of its member companies for delivering demonstrable excellence in health and safety. This year's honored firms are Tata Steel Limited, Gerdau, Tenaris, Ternium, BlueScope Steel Limited, and Liberty Steel.

For their efforts to include Human & Organizational Performance (HOP) into Foundational HSE Leadership, BlueScope Limited received recognition for excellence in safety culture and leadership.

Awards for excellence in occupational safety management were given to Tenaris for their automatic anti-collision system for small forklifts and Ternium for eliminating human interface through robotic operation in continuous casting. Tenaris created the device in response to two events at its Dalmine warehouse involving tiny forklifts and people. Since 2018, Ternium Brazil has started utilizing robots for a variety of purposes.

Gerdau Brazil was honored in the Occupational Health Management category for its +Care Program, which addresses the psychological and physical needs of workers.The award was shared by Liberty Steel’s You Matter.We Care programme aimed at establishing a workplace free from psychosocial risks.

Tata Steel was honored for its online purging assistance, which was designed to reduce the risk of explosion in the blast furnace's gas cleaning plant (GCP) area, receiving recognition for excellence in process safety management.
