Hefty Partners with Rumpke, Clinton County Solid Waste Management District in OH to Take Recycling to Next Level

SEATTLE (Waste Advantage): Many residents want to be more responsible consumers, but find that some common household plastics, like the utensils that come with takeout orders, aren’t accepted for recycling. That soon will change for Clinton County recyclers. Hefty is partnering with Rumpke Recycling and Clinton County Solid Waste Management District to launch a new program in Clinton County with a focus to keep hard-to-recycle plastics out of landfills, according to a news release.

Chip bags, foam egg cartons, takeout containers, plastic bags, bubble wrap, plastic utensils and more are the targets of the Hefty ReNew program and meant to complement current recycling efforts. “This program will help those recyclers who want to go the extra mile to recycle more of the stuff we told you not to put with your recycling,” said Jeff Walls, coordinator of the Clinton County Solid Waste Management District.

Starting this month, the program will be offered to the City of Wilmington’s curbside recycling customers and also available to drop-off recyclers via a designated drop-off container at the Clinton County Solid Waste Management District’s 1274 W. Main St., Wilmington location. To participate, residents must purchase special Hefty ReNew orange plastic bags. Hefty ReNew orange bags are currently available for purchase at Kroger (Wilmington and Blanchester), Walmart (Wilmington) and Ace Hardware (Wilmington). Or residents can request a starter kit through Hefty’s website.
