Weekly Scrap Metal Price Report- October 11, 2024

Copper scrap prices showed a little weekly decrease of 3.04%.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly global market price trends of the various scrap metal categories on the Scrap Monster Price Index for the most recent week (October 4–October 10, 2024) are provided below:

Copper Scrap Prices

Copper scrap prices showed a little weekly decrease of 3.04%.

North America

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright decreased by 2.97% over the previous week. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing dropped 3.04% from the start of the week to $4.15 a pound by the end. Likewise, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing decreased by $0.13 per pound, from $4.18 to $4.05 per pound.

USA East Coast

On Thursday, October 10, 2024, the prices of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the ScrapMonster Index decreased by 2.97% on a weekly basis, from $4.38 to $4.25 per pound. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing had a price drop from $4.28 to $4.15 per pound during the course of the week. By the conclusion of the week, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing had dropped by 3.11% to $4.05 per pound.

USA Midwest

#1 Copper Bare Bright prices showed a 3.04% decrease from the week before. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing decreased by 3.11% as well, with a weekly end price of $4.05 per pound compared to an opening price of $4.18. #2 Copper Wire and Tubing copper scrap category saw a weekly decline in price, going from $4.08 to $3.95 per pound.

According to the ScrapMonster Index, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright decreased somewhat by 2.92% over the course of the week, from $4.45 to $4.32 per pound. This week, the price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing dropped from $4.35 to $4.22 per pound. By the conclusion of the week, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing had dropped 3.06% from its beginning price of $4.25 per pound to $4.12 per pound.

China

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright dropped somewhat from CNY 77,900 per MT to CNY 75,950 per MT the previous week. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing saw a modest reduction of 2.63% over the previous week as well. Moreover, during the week ending October 10, 2024, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing remained unchanged on the Index.

Brass Scrap Prices

The prices for brass scrap decreased by 0.85% from the previous week.

North America

By the conclusion of the week, red brass prices dropped from $2.45 to $2.43 per pound. On the Index, Yellow Brass was likewise down. The commodity's price decreased by 0.87%, from $2.30 to $2.28 a pound.

USA East Coast

Red Brass prices showed a 0.82% decrease from the previous week's prices. By the conclusion of the week, Yellow brass was also marginally less expensive per pound, going down from $2.30 to $2.28.

USA Midwest

From $2.43 to $2.41 per pound, or 0.82% less than the previous week, Red Brass saw a minor price drop. On Index, Yellow Brass was also down. The commodity's price saw a decrease of 0.88%.

Over the course of the week, Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices decreased. According to the Index, Red Brass's price dropped by 0.65% to close the week at CNY 38,250 per MT. In addition, Yellow Brass prices decreased somewhat week over week, from CNY 35,850 per MT to CNY 35,600 per MT.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

Over the previous week, aluminum scrap prices on the Index slightly decreased by 1.52%.

North America

Prices for E.C. Aluminum Wire decreased by 2.52% over the previous week. The price of 6063 Extrusions decreased slightly by 1.08% during the week ending October 10, 2024, when compared to the price during the previous week. Old cast prices decreased by 1.25% on the Index. In addition, UBC's prices decreased from the previous week by 1.23%.

USA East Coast

At the closing price of $1.16 per pound as of October 10, 2024, E.C. Aluminum Wire prices reported a decline of 2.52% on a weekly basis. The price of 6063 Extrusions witnessed a decline of 1.08% during the week. Old Cast's prices were down by 1.25% on the Index. When compared to the previous week, UBC pricing were down by 1.23%.

USA Midwest

Prices for E.C. Aluminum Wire have decreased by 2.52% from the previous week. The commodity's price dropped by $0.03 per pound last week, ending the week at $1.16 per pound. 6063 Extrusions, meanwhile, saw a weekly pricing decline of 1.10%. The prices of Old Cast and UBC saw nominal declines of 1.28% and 1.25%, respectively, on the ScrapMonster Index.

E.C. Aluminum Wire prices showed a decreasing trend, falling by 2.52% from the previous week. The ScrapMonster Index showed a minor decrease in the price of 6063 extrusions of $0.01 per pound as compared to the previous week's price of $0.93 per pound. Weekly changes in Old Cast prices on the Index were -1.23%. As of October 10, 2024, UBC's prices have similarly decreased by 1.22%.

China

E.C. Aluminum Wire prices increased by 0.52% from CNY 19,250 per MT to $19,350 per MT at the end of the week. Additionally, 6063 Extrusions' prices increased slightly from the previous week by 0.55%. The prices of Old Cast saw a slight increase of 0.56% on the Index. As of October 10, 2024, UBC prices were stable at CNY 12,450 per MT.

Europe

Throughout the week, the price of Old Cast remained constant at $1,050 per tonne. Additionally, UBC prices remained unchanged, holding steady at $1,250 per tonne on the ScrapMonster Index from the previous week.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices 

The prices of Stainless Steel scrap showed a weekly decline of 4.35%.

North America

An analysis of 304 SS Good pricing patterns suggest a little decrease in the commodity's price from the previous week. Over the course of the week, the price per pound of the commodity dropped by $0.03.

USA East Coast

The prices of 304 SS Solid recorded a modest decline of 4.35% over the previous week as of October 10, 2024. The prices during the week registered a fall from $0.69 per Lb to $0.66 per Lb.

USA Midwest

304 SS Solid prices were down modestly by 4.35%, to end the week at $0.66 per Lb.

USA West Coast

For the week ending October 10, 2024, the price of 304 SS Solid dropped somewhat by 4.35% from $0.69 per pound the previous week.

China

During the week, 304 SS Solid prices went up a little bit. The reported price of the commodity increased by 0.40% last week, from CNY 12,400 per MT to CNY 12,450 per MT.

Europe

The prices of 304 SS Solid witnessed no variation from the prior week’s price of $1,070 per Tonne during the week.

Steel Scrap Prices

Steel Scrap prices reported no change when compared with the previous week.

North America

The #1 HMS pricing from the prior week remained unchanged. The product continued to be offered at $300 per MT. Throughout the week, the price of $365 per MT for Shredded Auto Scrap did not change. Similarly, the price of HMS 80/20 did not change from $250 per MT the week before. #1 Busheling prices remained constant during the week.

USA East Coast

According to the ScrapMonster Index, #1 HMS's prices remained constant at $300 per MT during the week. Shredded Auto Scrap's prices for the week showed no change from $365 per MT the previous week. During the week, the price of HMS 80/20 was also fixed at $250 per MT. #1 Busheling prices on the Index were also unchanged.

USA Midwest

#1 HMS's prices from the prior week did not alter. Over the week, Shredded Auto Scrap was likewise flat. At $250 per MT, the HMS 80/20 pricing on the Index did not change. The price of #1 Busheling did not fluctuate for the week ending October 10, 2024.

USA West Coast

#1 HMS prices recorded no change over the prior week. The prices of the commodity held steady at $300 per MT. Shredded Auto Scrap too was stagnant, with prices reporting no change from $365 per MT during the week. HMS 80/20 prices held on to their previous week’s prices of $250 per MT. Also, #1 Busheling prices were unchanged over the week at $380 per MT.

China

There was no change in #1 HMS prices from the previous week. The commodity's price remained constant at CNY 1,630 per MT.

Europe

According to the ScrapMonster Index, #1 HMS's prices remained constant at $170 per Tonne through the week. Shredded Auto Scrap saw no change in price from $130 per Tonne the previous week.

Lead Scrap Prices

Lead Scrap prices held steady upon comparison with the prior week.

North America

An analysis of the price charts for Scrap Auto Batteries revealed that there had been no change in the commodity's prices from the previous week. The price per pound stayed the same at $0.22 throughout the week.

USA East Coast

The price of used car batteries stayed the same for the week ending October 10, 2024, at $0.22 per pound.

USA Midwest

Throughout the week, the price of scrap auto batteries remained unchanged at $0.22 per pound on the ScrapMonster Index.

USA West Coast

The price of Scrap Auto Batteries remained the same at $0.22 per pound as it was at the beginning of the week.

China

Over the past week, Scrap Auto Battery prices recorded marginal decline on the Index. As of Thursday, October 10, 2024, the prices of the commodity fell marginally by CNY 50 per MT to end the week at CNY 6,850 per MT.

Europe

The prices of Scrap Auto Batteries witnessed no variation from the prior week’s price of $820 per Tonne during the week.

Zinc Scrap Prices

Zinc Scrap prices recorded a modest decline of 2.62% in prices week-on-week.

North America

New Zinc Die Cast prices decreased by 2.41% from $0.83 to $0.81 per pound over the previous week. Old Zinc Die Cast prices decreased week over week as well. On Thursday, October 10, 2024, the closing price of the commodity was $0.69 per pound.

USA East Coast

The prices of New Zinc Die Cast registered a decline of 2.41% from the previous week’s price of $0.83 per Lb. Also, Old Zinc Die Cast prices inched lower by 2.82% over the previous week.

USA Midwest

New Zinc Die Cast's price dropped by 2.41% from the prior week. By the conclusion of the week, the price of Old Zinc Die Cast had dropped by 2.82% to $0.69 per pound.

USA West Coast

New Zinc Die Cast is now cheaper than it was the week before, at $0.83 per pound. The weekly closing price of the commodity was $0.81 per pound. Additionally, the Index showed a 2.82% decline in the price of Old Zinc Die Cast.

Europe

There was no change in the price of New Zinc Die Cast over the previous week. The price per Tonne remained unchanged at $800.
