Scrap Metals- Weekly Market Report: September 20, 2024

When compared to the price of CNY 72,950 per MT the previous week, the prices of #1 Copper Bare Bright showed a slight increase to CNY 74,650 per MT.

Copper Scrap Prices

Prices for copper scrap reported a slight weekly increase of 3.27%.

North America

#1 Copper Bare Bright prices witnessed a marginal increase over the prior week, edging higher by 3.19%. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing witnessed a little price increase of 3.27%, closing the week at $4.10 per pound from $3.97 per pound at the start.Similarly, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing prices went higher by $0.13 per Lb, rising from $3.87 per Lb to $4.00 per Lb.

The prices of #1 Copper Bare Bright recorded a weekly increase in prices by 3.19%, edging higher from $4.07 per Lb to $4.20 per Lb on the ScrapMonster Index as of Thursday, September 19, 2024. The price of #1 Copper wire and tubing went up from $3.97 to $4.10 per pound during the course of the week. By the conclusion of the week, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing had increased by 3.36% to $4.00 per pound.

USA Midwest

#1 Copper Bare Bright prices showed a slight increase of 3.27% over the previous week. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing saw a 3.36% increase in price as well, ending the week at $4.00 per pound after beginning the week at $3.87 per pound. Another copper scrap category to witness a week-on-week rise in prices was #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, the prices of which jumped from $3.77 per Lb to $3.90 per Lb over the week.

USA West Coast

According to the ScrapMonster Index, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright increased by 3.14% every week, going from $4.14 to $4.27 per pound. This week, the price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing increased slightly, from $4.04 to $4.17 per pound. When compared to the opening price of $3.94 per pound, the prices of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing increased by 3.30% as well, ending the week at $4.07 per pound.

China

#1 Copper Bare Bright prices showed a modest increase to CNY 74,650 per MT as compared to the previous week's price of CNY 72,950 per MT. Over the prior week, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing also recorded a 2.45% increase. Additionally, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing on the Index went higher by 2.49% to CNY 69,950 per MT.

Europe

#1 Copper Bare Bright prices for the week remained at $6,000 per tonne, the same as the previous week. As of the previous week, the price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing stayed constant at $5,200 per tonne on the Index. In addition, the Index pricing for #2 Copper Wire and Tubing remained unchanged.

Brass Scrap Prices

Brass Scrap prices witnessed marginal increase of 1.50% over the previous week.

North America

Red Brass prices ended the week at $2.39 per pound, increasing from the previous week's price of $2.35 per Lb. Additionally, Yellow Brass was up on the Index. The commodity's price edged higher by 1.82%, from $2.20 per pound to $2.24 per pound.

The prices of Red Brass reported an increase of 1.70% upon comparison with the previous week.In addition, the price of yellow brass increased slightly from $2.20 to $2.24 per pound by the end of the week.

USA Midwest

Red Brass witnessed a marginal jump over the previous week, with prices increasing by 1.72% from $2.33 per Lb to $2.37 per Lb. Yellow Brass too was up on Index. The prices of the commodity recorded an increase of 1.83%.

USA West Coast

As of Thursday, September 19, 2024, Red Brass was selling for $2.43 per pound, which was 1.67% more than the week before. Additionally, the price per pound of Yellow Brass climbed by $0.04 during the previous week.

China

Both Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices witnessed a marginal increase over the week. The price of Red Brass reported a jump from CNY 37,900 per MT to CNY 38,100 per MT. Also, Yellow Brass saw its prices jump marginally higher by 0.57% from CNY 35,250 per MT to CNY 35,450 per MT.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

Aluminum Scrap prices posted a modest increase of 4.99% during the prior week.

North America

E.C. Aluminum Wire prices recorded an increase over the previous week, edging higher by 4.63%. Comparing the price of 6063 Extrusions to the previous week's price, there was a slight increase of 4.6%, or $0.04 per pound. On the Index, old cast prices rose by 5.41% as well. Furthermore, UBC's prices showed a 5.33% increase from the prior week.

Prices for E.C. aluminum wire increased by 4.63% weekly, from $1.08 to $1.13 per pound. Through the week, 6063 Extrusions' pricing recorded an increase of 4.60%. On the Index, Old Cast's prices went higher from $0.74 per Lb to $0.78 per Lb. In the meantime, UBC prices also edged higher by 5.33% during the week.

USA Midwest

E.C. Aluminum Wire prices increased by 4.63% from the previous week. Over the previous week, the commodity's prices increased slightly, from $1.08 per pound to $1.13 per pound. Meanwhile, 6063 Extrusions had a 4.71% weekly increase in pricing. On the ScrapMonster Index, the prices of UBC and Old Cast increased by 5.41% and 5.56%, respectively, during the course of the week.

USA West Coast

E.C. Aluminum Wire prices recorded a modest jump over the previous week, increasing by 4.63%. 6063 Extrusions prices were up by 4.6% on the ScrapMonster Index, when compared with the previous week’s price of $0.87 per Lb. Old Cast recorded an increase by 5.33% in price on the Index. UBC prices also witnessed modest increase over the week to close at $0.80 per Lb as of September 19, 2024.

China

Prices for E.C. Aluminum Wire finished the week at $18,900 per MT, a little increase of 1.89%. The prices of 6063 Extrusions increased by 2.01% over the previous week. On the Index, Old Cast's prices increased by 2.03% as well. In the meanwhile, UBC prices saw a slight uptick of CNY 150 per MT over the CNY 12,200 per MT price from the previous week.

Europe

The prices of Old Cast held steady at $1,050 per Tonne during the week. UBC prices too were flat, maintaining the previous week’s price of $1,250 per Tonne on the ScrapMonster Index.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

The prices of Stainless Steel scrap reported an increase of 1.64% week-on-week.

North America

According to an analysis of 304 SS Solid pricing trends, the commodity's prices increased somewhat over the previous week. Over the course of the week, the price per pound increased by $0.01.

The prices of 304 SS Solid recorded nominal jump by 1.64% over the previous week as of September 19, 2024. The prices during the week increased from $0.61 per Lb to $0.62 per Lb.

The price of 304 SS Solid for the week ending September 19, 2024, increased marginally by 1.64% over the previous week's price of $0.61 per pound.

304 SS Solid prices witnessed marginal increase over the week. The prices of the commodity reported increase from CNY 12,150 per MT to CNY 12,200 per MT, thus recording week-on-week increase by 0.41%.

Europe

The prices of 304 SS Solid witnessed no variation from the prior week’s price of $1,070 per Tonne during the week.

Steel Scrap Prices

Steel Scrap prices reported no change when compared with the previous week.

North America

#1 There was no change in HMS prices from the previous week. The commodity was still being sold for $300 per MT. The pricing for Shredded Auto Scrap remained unchanged at $370 per MT during the course of the week. Similarly, HMS 80/20 pricing remained at $250 per MT from the previous week. #1Busheling pricing were steady during the week as well.

During the week, the price of HMS 80/20 was also fixed at $250 per MT. #1 Busheling prices on the Index were also unchanged.

USA Midwest

There was no change in #1 HMS's prices from the previous week. Shredded Auto Scrap was also flat during the course of the week. The HMS 80/20 pricing on the Index remained constant at $250 per MT. There was no change in the price of #1 Busheling in the week that ended September 19, 2024.

USA West Coast

#1 HMS prices recorded no change over the prior week. The prices of the commodity held steady at $300 per MT. Shredded Auto Scrap too was stagnant, with prices reporting no change from $370 per MT during the week. HMS 80/20 prices held on to their previous week’s prices of $250 per MT. Also, #1 Busheling prices were unchanged over the week at $380 per MT.

China

#1 HMS prices witnessed no change over the prior week. The prices of the commodity held steady at CNY 1,630 per MT.

Europe

According to the ScrapMonster Index, #1 HMS's prices remained constant at $170 per MT throughout the course of the week. Shredded Auto Scrap saw no change in price from $130 per MT the previous week.

Lead Scrap Prices

Lead Scrap prices held steady upon comparison with the prior week.

North America

The commodity's prices showed no change from the previous week, according to a review of the price charts for scrap auto batteries. During the week, the pricing remained constant at $0.22 per pound.

Prices for new zinc die cast increased from $0.75 per pound to $0.77 per pound, a gain of 2.67% over the previous week. Prices for Old Zinc Die Cast also increased week over week. The commodity's price as of Thursday, September 19, 2024, closed at $0.65 per pound.
