Aluminum Scrap Prices: Weekly Market Report- September 12, 2024
The LME Aluminum Cash Settlement contract inched higher marginally from $2,354.50 a day before to $2,390.50 per tonne.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly trend in aluminium scrap prices across worldwide markets for the past one-week period (September, 6 to September 12, 2024) on the Scrap Monster Price Index are provided below:
The prices witnessed mixed trend over the prior week. All of the scrap commodities in the region, except E.C. Aluminum Wire and Mixed Aluminum Turnings maintained their previous week’s price level.
The E.C. Aluminum Wire prices recorded increase by 1.01% over the previous week. The prices increased by $0.01 per Lb from $1.05 per Lb during the prior week to $1.06 per Lb during the week ending September 12, 2024.

In the meantime, Mixed Aluminum Turnings recorded a decline of 2.17% in prices over the previous week.
The regional scrap aluminum prices displayed mixed trend during the week ending September 12, 2024.
The only gainer in terms of prices was E.C. Aluminum Wire, which recorded week-on-week increase by 0.95%.
The prices of 6063 Extrusions, Aluminum Radiators, Litho Sheets, Painted Siding, 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels (Clean), 5052 Scrap, 6061 Extrusions, and 6063 Extusions/Fe held steady on Index.
Also, no variation is prices were reported in Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Transformers, Breakage 50% Recovery, Chrome Wheels, MLC Clips, Old Cast, Old Sheet, UBC, and Zorba 90% NF during the week.
Mixed Aluminum Turnings saw dip in prices.
Only E.C. Aluminum Wire reported jump in prices over the previous week. The prices of the commodity registered week-on-week increase by 0.95%, from $1.05 per Lb at the beginning of the week to end the week at $1.06 per Lb.
In contrast, Mixed Aluminum Turnings prices reported decline, falling from $0.45 per Lb to $0.44 per Lb week-on-week.

All other scrap commodities witnessed no change on Index over the prior week.

The only scrap commodity to witness increase in prices was E.C. Aluminum Wire, which recorded surge by 0.95%, upon comparison with the prior week.
The prices of 6063 Extrusions, Aluminum Radiators, Litho Sheets, Painted Siding, 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels (Clean), 5052 Scrap, 6061 Extrusions, and 6063 Extusions/Fe held steady on Index.
Also, no change is prices were reported in Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Transformers, Breakage 50% Recovery, Chrome Wheels, MLC Clips, Old Cast, Old Sheet, UBC, and Zorba 90% NF during the week.

The Chinese aluminum scrap prices edged higher over the week.
Old Cast saw its prices jump higher from CNY 16,850 per MT to CNY 17,200 per MT during the week.

Old Sheet prices too were down by 2.08%, falling from CNY 16,850 per MT at the start of the week to end the week at CNY 17,200 per MT. The weekly price variation in Old Sheet is provided in the below chart:
Also, 6063 Extrusions prices edged higher from CNY 17,050 per MT a week before to CNY 17,400 per MT, increasing by 2.05% over the week.
The prices of Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Transformers, UBC, Zorba 90% NF, E.C. Aluminum Wire, and Aluminum Ingots also registered week-on-week increase.
The Aluminum utensil scrap prices edged higher marginally by INR 5,000 per Ton to close at INR 216,000 per ton during the week ending September 12, 2024. Similarly marginal increase in prices by 2.27% was seen in Aluminum ingots also, over the week.

The prices of all aluminium scrap categories (Aluminum Cuttings, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast and UBC) remained unchanged during the week.
LME Aluminum Market Update
The closing price of LME Aluminum 3-Month contract stood at USD 2,410.00 per tonne as of September 12, 2024. The LME Aluminum Cash Settlement contract inched higher marginally from $2,354.50 a day before to $2,390.50 per tonne.
The LME Aluminum stocks declined over the previous day to close at 824,350 tonnes as of September 12, 2024, upon comparison with 827,850 a day before.
