BIR International Trade Council Appointed New Chair

A regular speaker at international recycling events, he holds degrees in European law and international relations.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) announced appointment of Emmanuel Katrakis as the new Chair of its International Trade Council. The announcement to this effect was made by Susie Barrage, President, BIR.

Emmanuel Katrakis currently serves as the Director of Public and Regulatory Affairs at Galloo Group- a Europ-based firm that specializes in recycling of materials including metals and plastics.

He has also served as Secretary General of the European Recycling Industries' Confederation (EuRIC). He played a significant role in developing EuRIC into the definitive voice of the European recycling industry. Emmanuel has extensive expertise in recycling, advocacy, and association management. A regular speaker at international recycling events, he holds degrees in European law and international relations.

Susie Burrage stated that she is extremely happy that Emmanuel has accepted her invitation to chair one of BIR’s most important cross-commodity committees. With this new appointment, the ITC will certainly gain momentum and widen its contributions. Emmanuel has the necessary expertise for this crucial position, she added.

Susie thanked outgoing ITC Chairman Michael Lion for his outstanding service to the industry over several decades. Incidentally, Lion has been awarded an honorary BIR membership.
