Michigan City Steel Firm to Construct New Manufacturing Plant

According to the company, the proposed new manufacturing plant will have over 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space and around 4,000 square feet of office space.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Michigan City-based D. Martin Enterprises announced major expansion plans. The company intends to build a new manufacturing facility at an investment of approximately $20 million. The new manufacturing operation will serve the Northwest Indiana region.

Leading provider of products and services to electric arc furnaces (EAFs), D. Martin Enterprises currently employs nearly 100 workers. The setting up of the new plant will add additional 30 jobs over the next two-year period. The facility will be centrally located, making it a preferred choice for many of the mills in the region, noted Cassie Martin Graham, Vice-President of Operations.

According to the company, the proposed new manufacturing plant will have over 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space and around 4,000 square feet of office space. The company has been witnessing significant increase in sales over the past several years, which ultimately made it think about expanding its capabilities in the region to better serve its existing and new customers.

The groundbreaking of the new facility will be held in October this year, with operations expected to commence as early as 2026.
