Nucor Announced Key Executive Leadership Changes

Doug’s retirement and Randy’s promotion are part of company’s previously announced strategic succession plan.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Charlotte, N.C.-headquartered Nucor Corporation announced major changes to its executive leadership.

According to announcement made by the company, its Executive Vice President Douglas J. Jellison will retire on 8th June, 2024, after serving the company for more than 33 years. Effective 12th May, 2024, Randy J. Spicer, who currently serves as the President of Nucor Tubular Products, will be promoted to Executive Vice President.

Mr. Jellison joined the company in 1990 as Materials Manager at Nucor Bearing Products. Since then he has worked in various positions and businesses in multiple roles. He was promoted to Executive Vice President in 2021.

Meantime, Randy began his journey with the company in 2004, joining as Accounting Supervisor at Nucor Steel Indiana. He was promoted to General Manager of Nucor Tubular Products North in 2020 and elected to Vice President in 2022.

Commenting on the leadership change, Leon Topalian, Chair, President and Chief Executive Officer, Nucor noted that the company is ncredibly grateful for Doug's contributions over the last three decades. He thanked Doug for his exemplary leadership and wished him a long and happy retirement. Furthermore, Randy’s over 20 years of Nucor experience makes him well-positioned to take on the challenging role, he added.
