PLASTICS Launched Recycling Campaign for Consumers and Policymakers

Also, FFRA intends to publish a directory, which will provide information to consumers on where to recycle their flexible film bags.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Patrick Krieger, vice president of sustainability for the Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) shared updates on the association’s ‘Recycling is Real’ video campaign and its new initiative to improve recycling of flexible film products. The advocacy campaign launched last year, aims to promote and defend plastic recycling in the U.S.

According to Krieger, most of the Recycling is Real videos are from plastics recyclers. The videos feature material recycling facilities (MRFs) that sort materials as well as recyclers who process them. They share recycling stories with consumers, which in turn will educate them on how to recycle better.

Another primary target of these videos are policymakers, as the association believes that they are the ones who makes critical decisions that may impact the entire plastics industry and its participants.

The recently launched Flexible Film Recycling Alliance (FFRA) program brings together industry leaders who are committed to a healthy flexible film and bag recycling ecosystem. It details on multiple recycling pathways to recycle various categories of materials including monolayer polyethylene bags and multi-laminate flexible packaging.

Also, FFRA intends to publish a directory, which will provide information to consumers on where to recycle their flexible film bags.
