Nucor Signed Low-Carbon Steel Supply Agreement with Mercedes-Benz

This is the second deal signed by Mercedes-Benz with a major U.S. steel producer towards supply of green steel.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Charlotte, N.C.-headquartered Nucor Corporation has signed an agreement with automobile major Mercedes-Benz towards supply of low-carbon recycled content steel for the company’s car models produced at its Tuscaloosa, Alabama manufacturing plant.

As per agreement, Nucor will supply Econiq-RM category of products, which are made with 100% renewable energy, thereby reducing the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to more than 50%, in comparison with blast-furnace based steel production technique. It must be noted that Econiq is the world’s first net-zero carbon steel at scale, which help steel consumers in achieving their sustainability goals.
