R.P. Lumber to Buy Schrock Lumber in Mediapolis
She said when the family was considering selling they wanted a company that shared its values.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): A family-owned lumber company in the Quad Cities area will soon hand the reins over to another family-owned business.
R.P. Lumber Co. is buying Schrock Lumber Co., a 60-year-old family-owned hardware, lumber, and building materials retailer located in Mediapolis, Iowa.
The transaction will close on Friday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Brothers Ed and Bob Schrock bought Mediapolis Lumber in 1962 and rebranded it as Schrock Lumber, according to the new release.
And it has remained in family care. Ed’s daughter Carolyn Breder is the president of operations.
She said when the family was considering selling they wanted a company that shared its values.
”We have found that in R.P. Lumber and the Plummer family,” Breder said.
Robert L. Plummer, president and CEO of R.P. Lumber. said Schrock Lumber has always led by example.
Based in Edwardsville, Illinois, R.P. Lumber opened its first location in Staunton, Illinois, in 1977 and has 82 locations in Illinois, Missouri, Wyoming and Wisconsin.
