Shrewsbury, MA’s Recycling Program Receives Award
Stolarska has been with the town for a little over a year.
SEATTLE (Waste Advantage): The Town of Shrewsbury was recognized in December with the Central Massachusetts Municipal Recycling Council Recognition Award for the town’s “outstanding waste reduction program.” Solid Waste and Recycling Program Manager Gosia Stolarska accepted the award on behalf of the town. The town will also receive grant support from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection’s Central Region Recycling Dividends Program because of these efforts.
“Using best practices to encourage recycling and reduce solid waste disposal enable the town to keep the program’s expenses in check while enabling environmentally sustainable outcomes,” Keith Baldinger, assistant town manager for operations, said. “Ultimately this award is a reflection of the actions of Shrewsbury residents, and we thank them for the partnership.”
Stolarska has been with the town for a little over a year. Through her leadership of the Solid Waste and Recycling program, the town was able to reduce waste consumption by 326.69 tons compared to fiscal year 2022, earning the award from the council as well as the establishment of various waste reduction initiatives through the Recycling Dividends Program.
