Smurfit Kappa Won 12 Recognitions at the Prestigious Worldstar Awards

The Bag-in-Box paint box designed for the PPG paint multinational too has resulted in 80% reduction in plastic.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Smurfit Kappa has once again demonstrated its leadership in the packaging industry by winning 12 awards in the prestigious WorldStar packaging awards. The company won more awards than all other competitors. The achievement is a testimony to the company’s unwavering commitment to design sustainable packaging solutions in the most innovative and creative way.

The award-winning products include an octagonal cake box, an innovative packaging used to transport electric scooters and a point-of-sale display for sardines. The e-commerce pack for plants that prevents spillage by keeping the soil and pot separate was one of the products that received special mention by judges.

The 100% paper-based reel for engineering components has resulted in elimination of at least 35 tonnes of plastic every year. The Bag-in-Box paint box designed for the PPG paint multinational too has resulted in 80% reduction in plastic.

The other innovative products that won awards include e-Commerce bottle packs, frozen doughnut pack, tissue-based foam replacement for cushioning and AgroLife fresh fruit and vegetable pack.

The awards, run by the World Packaging Organisation, are given away in recognition of best packaging innovations across the globe.
