Scrap Aluminum Prices: Weekly Market Report- Dec 29th, 2023
The LME Aluminum Cash Settlement contract edged higher nominally from $2,293.50 a day before to $2,313.50 per tonne.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly trend in aluminium scrap prices across worldwide markets for the past one-week period (22nd December to 28th December, 2023) on the Scrap Monster Price Index are provided below:
The prices witnessed notable increase over the prior week. A few commodities held steady during the week.
The prices of Mixed Aluminum Turnings, 6063 Extrusions/Fe and 6061 Extrusions recorded the biggest surge on Index.
The Mixed Aluminum Turnings prices recorded an increase by 2.27% over the previous week. The prices edged higher by $0.01 per Lb to close at $0.45 per Lb on Index.

The prices of 6063 Extrusions/Fe and 6061 Extrusions too witnessed notable surge, with prices inching higher by 1.67% and 1.59% respectively.
The aluminum scrap commodities that maintained previous week price levels include 6063 Extrusions, Aluminum Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Transformers and Breakage 50% Recovery.
The regional scrap aluminum prices edged higher when compared with the prior week. The top three gainers were Mixed Aluminum Turnings, 6063 Extrusions/Fe and 6061 Extrusions.
The prices of E.C. Aluminum Wire, 5052 Scrap, MLC Clips, Litho Sheets, 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap and 356 Aluminum Wheels (Clean) too recorded modest surge when compared with the week before.
Meantime, 6063 Extrusions, Aluminum Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Transformers and Breakage 50% Recovery prices held steady over the prior week.
The prices reported modest increase when compared with the week before.
Mixed Aluminum Turnings surged from $0.44 per Lb from the beginning of the week to close at $0.45 per Lb.
The 6063 Extrusions/Fe prices witnessed 1.69% weekly surge, recording a rise from $0.59 per Lb to $0.60 per Lb during the week ended 28th December, 2023. The weekly price chart of the commodity is provided below:
The other scrap categories to record notable surge in prices were E.C. Aluminum Wire, 5052 Scrap, MLC Clips, Litho Sheets, 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap and 356 Aluminum Wheels (Clean).
The regional prices of all scrap aluminum categories, except a few, posted week-on-week surge.
Mixed Aluminum Turnings, 6063 Extrusions/Fe and 6061 Extrusions recorded the highest surge.

E.C. Aluminum Wire surged the least, with prices recording week-on-week increase by 1.01%.
Meantime, 6063 Extrusions, Aluminum Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Transformers and Breakage 50% Recovery held steady upon comparison with the previous week.
The aluminum scrap prices in the region surged higher significantly during the week ended 28th December, 2023.
The prices of Old Cast and Old Sheet increased the most, rising by 2.1% each. The Old Cast prices increased from CNY 16,650 per MT at the start of the week to end the week at CNY 17,000 per MT. The weekly price chart of Old Cast is provided below:
Also, Old Sheet prices were up by CNY 350 per MT over the previous week, as depicted in the below chart.
The prices of all other scrap categories including 6063 Extrusions, E.C. Aluminum Wire, Aluminum Ingots, Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Transformers, UBC and Zorba 90% NF too increased on a weekly basis.
The Aluminum utensil scrap prices witnessed surge by 3.11% from the prior week.
The Aluminum ingots prices too were up, registering a week-on-week increase by 2.97%.

The prices of all aluminium scrap categories (Aluminum Cuttings, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast and UBC) witnessed no change during the week.
LME Aluminum Market Update
Meantime, the closing price of LME Aluminum 3-Month contract stood at USD 2,367.00 per tonne as on 28th December, 2023. The LME Aluminum Cash Settlement contract edged higher nominally from $2,293.50 a day before to $2,313.50 per tonne.
The LME Aluminum stocks increased modestly over the previous day to close at 551,050 tonnes on 28th December, 2023, as compared with 523,725 a day before.
