worldsteel Announced Topmost Steel Producing Nations in November
The U.S. produced 6.6 Mt of steel, higher by 6.1% year-on-year.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has released the list of top 10 steel producing nations during the month of November this year.
China topped the list, with the country’s output recording marginal increase by 0.4% over the previous year. The country’s crude steel output totalled 76.1 Mt during the month. The cumulative output during the first eleven months of the current year totalled 952.1 Mt, marginally higher by 1.5% over the corresponding eleven-month period in 2022.

India’s estimated output, at 11.7 Mt, recorded significant surge by 11.4% over November last year. The country produced 128.2 Mt of steel during Jan-Nov ‘23, thus becoming the only country to record double-digit growth over the previous year. Also, India emerged as the country to record highest year-on-year jump in output. The Japanese output edged lower marginally by 0.9% during the month to total 7.1 Mt, while its cumulative yearly output until November this year was down by 2.8% over the prior year to total 80.0 Mt.
The U.S. produced 6.6 Mt of steel, higher by 6.1% year-on-year. Russia is estimated to have produced 6.4 Mt, notably higher by 12.5% year-on-year. The output by other countries in the top ten list in Mt is as follows: South Korea (5.4), Germany (2.7), Turkiye (3.0), Brazil (2.7) and Iran (3.0).
Among the top ten steel producing nations, Germany recorded highest dip in steel output during the month, falling modestly by around 2.4% year-on-year.
