DS Smith Slovenia, Panvita Collaboration to Cut Plastics Use by 85%
The DS Smith Easy Bowl packaging has been developed in partnership with the packaging line company, MULTIVAC.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): DS Smith Slovenia has partnered with Panvita Group- the region’s leading chain of food processing companies. The collaboration aims to significantly reduce use of plastics by replacing them will alternatives in trays used by Panvita’s Ave meat product line.
As per partnership, DS Smith will provide Panvita with DS Smith Easy Bowl a corrugated cardboard tray that is laminated with a thin layer of plastic and sealed using flexible materials. The innovative packaging solution will replace nearly 85% of plastic with lightweight cardboard. Furthermore, the tray made from recycled paper, is fully recyclable as well.

The DS Smith Easy Bowl packaging has been developed in partnership with the packaging line company, MULTIVAC.
The external corrugated cardboard tray and inner protective film keeps the fish, meat and prepared food fresh, while ensuring enhanced food safety and shelf life. Also, the design of the tray makes it easy for separating plastic materials for recycling.
DS Smith Slovenia is ready for a broader implementation of the DS Smith Easy Bowl in the Slovenian and European markets, said Michal Zawistowski, GM, DS Smith Slovenia. It offers a sustainable packaging option for food products that are currently packed in Styrofoam or plastic trays, he added.
