Aluminum Scrap Prices: Weekly Market Report- Dec 8th, 2023

The LME Aluminum Cash Settlement contract edged lower from $2,117.50 a day before to $2,099.00 per tonne.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly price trends of scrap aluminium across worldwide markets for the first week of December (1st to 7th December, 2023) on the Scrap Monster Price Index are provided below:

North America Prices

The prices witnessed downward trend.

Al/Cu Radiators/Fe recorded biggest decline in prices over the week, edging down from $1.25 per Lb to $1.22 per Lb. The prices of Mixed Aluminum Turnings and Al/Cu Radiators too recorded modest decline, falling by 2.27% and 2.07% respectively.

The chart provided below depicts the price movement in Al/Cu Radiators/Fe during the course of the week:

 

Meantime, 5052 Scrap, 6063 Extrusions, Litho Sheets and MLC Clips recorded least decline in prices over the week.

USA East Coast Prices

Al/Cu Radiators/Fe prices recorded biggest dip over the week, registering 2.40% decline from $1.25 per Lb to $1.22 per Lb. A notable weekly decline by 2.27% and 2.07% was seen in Mixed Aluminum Turnings and Al/Cu Radiators prices.

The scrap aluminium categories that recorded nominal decline in prices included 5052 Scrap, 6063 Extrusions, Litho Sheets and MLC Clips.

Meantime, prices of Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Transformers and Breakage 50% Recovery prices held steady on Index.

 

USA Midwest Prices

The aluminium scrap prices in the region mostly edged lower over the previous week. The top three losers were Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Mixed Aluminum Turnings and Al/Cu Radiators.

The Al/Cu Radiators/Fe prices ended the week at $1.20 per Lb, down from the previous week price of $1.23 per Lb.

Also, the week witnessed dip in prices of Mixed Aluminum Turnings and Al/Cu Radiators to $0.43 per Lb and $1.40 per Lb respectively.

USA West Coast Prices

The aluminium scrap metal prices in the region remained weak, with prices of all except a few categories recording week-on-week decline.

The scrap categories to dip the most were Old Cast and Old Sheet, whose prices recorded sharp decline by 2.86% each over the previous week. Al/Cu Radiators/Fe prices recorded fall from $1.27 per Lb to $1.24 per Lb. Also, Mixed Aluminum Turnings prices dipped by 2.27% week-on-week.

It was followed by Mixed Aluminum Turnings and Al/Cu Radiators, which recorded price declines by 3.88% and 3.23% respectively.

Meantime, prices of Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Transformers and Breakage 50% Recovery recorded no change over the week.

China Prices

The Chinese aluminum scrap prices witnessed decline over the week.

The Old Cast scrap saw its prices drop from CNY 16,100 per MT to CNY 15,950 per MT during the week.

Old Sheet prices too dropped by 0.93% over the prior week, as depicted in the below chart:

 

All other scrap, including 6063 Extrusions, Aluminum Ingots, E.C. Aluminum Wire, Zorba 90% NF, UBC, Aluminum Transformers and Aluminum Radiators registered week-on-week decline on Index.

 

India Prices

The Aluminum utensil scrap prices edged lower from INR 191,000 per ton during the start of the week to INR 186,000 per ton on 7th December, 2023. A similar fall by INR 5,000 per ton was recorded in Aluminum ingots prices over the week.

Europe Prices

The prices of all aluminium scrap categories (Aluminum Cuttings, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast and UBC) held steady during the week.

 

LME Aluminum Market Update

Meantime, the closing price of LME Aluminum 3-Month contract stood at USD 2,140.00 per tonne as on 7th December, 2023. The LME Aluminum Cash Settlement contract edged lower from $2,117.50 a day before to $2,099.00 per tonne.

The LME Aluminum stocks declined over the previous day to close at 442,500 tonnes on 7th December, 2023, as compared with 443,000 tonnes on 6th December, 2023.
