Decatur Lumber Company owner Glenn Trachta said all employees have been retained through the transition.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Decatur Lumber Company has been acquired by Henson Lumber, a building material provider based in Cresson.

Henson Lumber announced the acquisition of the lumber business that has operated in Decatur since 1979 Tuesday.

Decatur Lumber Company owner Glenn Trachta said all employees have been retained through the transition.

“They are a great company with great values. They are family owned and are going to be great for Decatur,” Trachta told the Messenger Wednesday. “That’s why we made this decision.”

Trachta said he and Wayne Trachta have been waiting for the right fit to engage in acquisition discussions.

The deal strengthens Henson Lumber’s position as a lumber and building material supplier in Texas said COO Casey Wallace.

“The acquisition of Decatur Lumber represents a natural synergy between two area leaders committed to providing exceptional products and services to customers,” Wallace said in the Tuesday press release. “The combined expertise and resources of both companies will enhance the overall customer experience and offer an even broader range of products to meet the diverse needs of builders, contractors, and homeowners in the North Texas region. We are excited about the growth potential and look forward to expanding and bringing in more products and services to the area. Decatur Lumber is fortunate in having several long tenured employees which is a testament to Glenn and Wayne Trachta and will be a big plus as we grow our product line and add more staff. I can’t say enough good things about Wayne and Glenn for allowing us to make this acquisition possible.”

LBM Journal recently recognized Henson Lumber as one of the top 100 lumber producers in the country by volume.
