DS Smith Collaborated with Versuni on New Sustainable Packaging Solutions

The companies also seek to reduce the outer printed area of the packaging box, which in turn will result in a 65% reduction in ink usage.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): DS Smith has collaborated with Versuni, home to some of the world’s most renowned domestic appliance brands, so as to produce and deliver 100% recycled and recyclable packaging solutions.

The sustainable packaging solution will be initially applied to Versuni’s top performing Phillip’s products that include the Air fryer, Espresso Machine with Latte Go, Stream Iron 3000 series, Air Purifier, and Cordless Vacuum 800 series. It will be further expanded across Versuni’s Phillips home appliance product portfolio across the globe.

The collaboration will explore options to replace single-use protection buffers (EDF) plastics inside the packaging with sustainable fibre-based packaging alternatives. This is part of Versuni’s previously announced goal to produce 100% plastic free packaging over the period of next four years.

The companies also seek to reduce the outer printed area of the packaging box, which in turn will result in a 65% reduction in ink usage.

Wouter van Tol, Head of Sustainability and Community Affairs, DS Smith plc stated that the partnership with Versuni across the design and production process will help to replace plastics and optimise sustainable supply chain processes. The company will continue to support delivery of circular-ready projects to customers, he added.
