Smurfit Kappa Innovation Hub Announced European Expansion
Several of those packaging solutions also meet Amazon’s certification standards.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Smurfit Kappa’s Design2Market Factory announced major expansion plans in Europe, further to successfully completing one year of operation. According to company press release, innovation hubs, similar to the original hub in the Netherlands, will be launched in other European counties including Germany, Italy, Poland and the UK.
The original innovation hub has successfully executed more than 50 projects, including those for some of the world’s leading consumer brands. The team undertakes challenges and designs innovative solutions that are ready to be tested in the market in just under two weeks’ time. With limited turnaround time, the Design2Market Factory recyclable and sustainable packaging solutions that significantly reduces carbon footprints.
The innovative solutions designed, created and launched by the team include shelf-ready packaging for detergent, a paper-based replacement for shrink wrap and a complete range of eCommerce solutions. Several of those packaging solutions also meet Amazon’s certification standards.
Arco Berkenbosch, Smurfit Kappa’s Chief Innovation Officer noted that expansion of its European footprint will help more customers to meet their sustainability goals in line with the company’s Better Planet Packaging Initiative.
