Newmont Announced Top Executive Leadership Appointments

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Nemont Corporation announced major executive leadership appointments to further strengthen its operating model.

According to company press release, Natascha Viljoen has joined Newmont as Chief Operating Officer (COO) effective October 2, 2023. Natascha will be responsible for the Australian, North American, and Papua New Guinea (PNG) Business Units of the company with effect from 1st November. She will also be in charge of incorporating Newcrest’s people and assets into Newmont, further to the completion of the acquisition deal.

Rob Atkinson will continue to lead the Africa,Peru and Latin America & Caribbean business units. Natascha will assume full responsibility of all business units in early-2024. At this point of time, Rob will transition into a strategic role and support the business in a different capacity.

Alwyn Pretorius, who previously led Newmont’s Africa and South America Business Units, will assume the role of Managing Director, Papua New Guinea. He will be based in Port Moresby and will report to Natascha.

Upon successful completion of the merger, Suzy Retallack, who is currently the company’s Chief Safety and Sustainability Officer (CSSO), will take on the responsibility of Executive Australia.

The new appointments cater to the need for strong and experienced leadership post integration of Newcrest, Tom Palmer, President and CEO, Newmont said.
