DS Smith Zarnesti Paper Mill Completed Milestone Investment
The company had started construction of the Waste Waste Treatment plan in 2021.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): DS Smith Zarnesti paper mill in Romania announced inauguration of new Waste Water Treatment Plant, reiterating the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainable paper making. The project is part of the Euro 11 million investment plan announced earlier in 2021. The inauguration comes at a time when the Zarnesti mill is completing 170 years of papermaking.
The company had started construction of the Waste Waste Treatment plan in 2021. In addition to boosting the mill’s paper production capacity, the plant also delivers significant reduction in operational impact on the environment. For instance, it reduces consumption of fresh water by almost 20% and quantity of technical waste generated by approximately 60%, said the company press release.
Commenting on the development, Marius Juncanariu, General Manager, DS Smith Zarnesti said that the company is proud to have completed this major investment, which will significantly contribute to the efficiency of the production process and protecting the environment.
The Zarnesti paper mill was taken over by DS Smith Group in 2018, after which it has made significant investments in modernizing it.
