worldsteel Declared Top Ten Steel Producing Nations in July
The U.S. produced 6.9 Mt of steel, higher by 0.5% year-on-year.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has released the list of top 10 steel producing nations during the month of July this year.
China topped the list, with the country’s output recording notable surge by 11.5% over the previous year. The country’s crude steel output totalled 90.8 Mt during the month. The cumulative output during the first seven months of the current year totalled 626.50 Mt, modestly higher by 2.5% over the corresponding seven-month period in 2022.
India’s estimated output, at 11.5 Mt, recorded significant surge by 14.3% over July last year. The country produced 79.9 Mt of steel during Jan-July ‘23, significantly higher by 9.0% over the previous year. Incidentally, India emerged as the country to record highest year-on-year jump in output. The Japanese output edged higher marginally by 0.9% during the month to total 7.4 Mt, while its cumulative yearly output until July this year was down by 3.9% over the prior year to total 51.2 Mt.
The U.S. produced 6.9 Mt of steel, higher by 0.5% year-on-year. Russia is estimated to have produced 6.3 Mt, higher by 5.8% year-on-year. The output by other countries in the top ten list in Mt is as follows: South Korea (5.7), Germany (3.0), Turkiye (2.9), Brazil (2.7) and Iran (2.0).
South Korea recorded highest decline in steel output during the month, among the top ten steel producing nations, falling significantly by almost 9% year-on-year.
