Top 20 Gold Producing Nations in 2022

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Full Year 2022 Gold Demand Trends report published by the World Gold Council (WGC) denotes that global gold production was estimated at around 3,628t in 2022, marginally higher by 1% from the prior year.

The data indicates no change in the top five gold producing nations in 2022, compared to 2021. China continued to be the largest gold producer in the world, accounting for almost one-tenth of the total global production. It was followed by Russia, Australia, Canada and the U.S.

The country-level data indicates that other countries to appear in the list were Ghana, Peru, Indonesia, Mexico, Uzbekistan, Mali, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Sudan, Guinea, Colombia, Bolivia and Tanzania.

The list shows that several West African nations have managed to firmly hold on to their position in the list. There has been a significant rise in gold production from these countries, especially Ghana and Mali. Meantime, the artisanal and small-scale mining has thrived in Bolivia over the past decade. Also, gold production from South Africa has been witnessing steady decline over the years.
