Novelis to Supply Aluminum Beverage Can Sheet to Coca-Cola
The supply will be made from various plants including the Bay Minette, Alabama plant, which is expected to start commissioning in 2025.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Novelis, Inc. announced that it has entered into a long-term agreement with Coca-Cola Bottlers' Sales & Services Company towards supply of aluminum beverage can sheet.
Under the recent agreement, Novelis will supply aluminum can sheet to Coca-Cola's authorized North American bottlers, which will be utilized for manufacturing cans for the Coca-Cola Company's leading soft drinks brands. The multi-year agreement will result in purchasing huge volumes of aluminum can sheets. The contract includes an agreement for closed-loop recycling projects which promises to deliver lower-carbon products.
The supply will be made from various plants including the Bay Minette, Alabama plant, which is expected to start commissioning in 2025. It must be noted that majority of the plant capacity for beverage can at the Bay Minette plant has already been contracted. The plant is expected to have an initial capacity of 600,000 tons of finished goods.
Steve Fisher, President and CEO of Novelis noted that the new long-term contract builds on a decades-long relationship between Novelis and the Coca-Cola system. Furthermore, it will further strengthen the company’s position as the leading provider of aluminum for beverage cans, he said.
The alumninum beverage can sheet demand is projected to record a CAGR growth of 3% during the period from 2021 to 2031.
