SDI Recycled Aluminum Mill to Ramp Up Construction

The planned capital investment for the mill is nearly $1.9 billion.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Steel Dynamics, Inc. (SDI) announced that construction is in full swing at its future greenfield state-of-the-art, recycled aluminum flat rolled mill, in Columbus, Mississippi. The company expects to receive all necessary permits over the next 30 to 45 days, after which it expects to ramp up construction. It must be noted that the company had earlier broken ground on the site of the new aluminum mill.

According to update provided by the company, the new roads have been paved. Also, improvements have been made on water and sewer systems. As per estimates, it may take almost two years to construct the building and install the equipment. The aluminum mill project is expected to create 700 high-paying full-time positions and hundreds of indirect job opportunities, which will bring additional meaningful economic growth to the surrounding communities.
