SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Lumber and building materials distributor Sherwood Lumber has acquired Middle Atlantic Wholesale Lumber (MAWL).
MAWL is key regional supplier of lumber products and expands Sherwood Lumber’s geographic footprint long with service capabilities.
Based in Baltimore, Maryland and founded in 1977 by Jerry Kolker, MAWL serves customers in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, West Virginia, North Carolina, and more.
'We are delighted to welcome the exceptional team at MAWL to the Sherwood Lumber family,' said Michael Goodman, director of Finance/general counsel at Sherwood Lumber said in a press release. 'This acquisition represents an important step in our growth strategy, enabling us to expand our presence on the East Coast and provide even better service to our customers. We are excited to combine our expertise and resources with MAWL to create an even stronger platform for growth.'
Sherwood said that by combining the strengths of the two companies, it creates a larger and more diverse distribution network, with an expanded product offering and improved logistics capabilities.
Additionally, Sherwood said the acquisition provides the distributor with a talented and experienced team from MAWL, who will bring valuable insights and expertise to the combined company.
The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

With the acquisition of MAWL, Sherwood Lumber will now have access to new markets and customers, as well as expanded distribution channels, the Melville, New York-based company said.
Sherwood Lumber operates more than 20 locations across the country including branches in Arizona, Alabama, California, Illinois, Iowa, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Tennesse, Texas, Oregon, and Washington.
In a prepared statement, Sherwood Lumber said, “this strategic acquisition opens doors for Sherwood Lumber to explore similar growth opportunities across the country.”
Sherwood Lumber said that it remains open to future partnerships that can further expand its reach and solidify its position as a national leader in the lumber and building materials industry.
