LIBERTY Steel Hartlepool Won Major Contracts for Gas Field Development Projects

The manufacturing activity is scheduled to begin soon and is expected to continue throughout this year.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): LIBERTY Pipes Hartlepool announced that it has won two major contracts by Subsea7 in connection with gas field development projects in the North Sea. The contracts are for the Aker BP operated Yggdrasil and Valhall PWP-Fenris offshore field development projects, the company press release said.

As per contract, LIBERTY Pipes Hartlepool will produce approximately 16.6 kilometres of longitudinally submerged arc welded (LSAW) pipe and supply them to Subsea7’s bundle fabrication facility at Wester, outside Wick, Scotland. The pipes will conform to API 5L specifications with exacting tolerances to ensure smooth and efficient fabrication and installation. Also, it will be coated prior to delivery.

The manufacturing activity is scheduled to begin soon and is expected to continue throughout this year. The fabrication works will be done onshore, with installation expected to take place offshore.

Commenting on the development, Jeffrey Kabel, Chief Transformation Officer, LIBERTY Steel said that the company’s success in winning the contracts highlights the capability of its pipes division to drive development of new energy infrastructure in the UK and around the world. The company is well-positioned to compete for new orders that can create jobs that in turn would benefit the economy. Moreover, it promises to further strengthen UK energy security, he added.
