Global Campaign to Reduce Plastic Waste Announced Major Expansion

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): A couple of South African plastic industry organizations and a plastics producer have become part of the Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) pledge- a global campaign aimed at reducing plastic pollution in oceans and rivers. The OCS members commit to prevent resin pellet, flake and powder loss, so as to limit plastic entering oceans and rivers. It must be noted that plastic pollution has been badly impacting marine life and ecosystems.

The newly added members to the initiative are The Association of Rotational Moulders of Southern Africa (ARMSA), the Expanded Polystyrene Association of Southern Africa (EPSASA) and Kainotomia Polymers.
Douw Steyn, Plastics SA sustainability director applauded ARMSA, EPSASA and Kainotomia Polymers for their commitment to reduce plastic pollution and protect the environment. He encouraged other companies to join the initiative so as to ensure creation of a more sustainable world in future. Plastic pollution is a rising issue that affects the health of oceans and marine lives in them, he noted.
OCS is an initiative by PLASTICS to empower companies committed to zero resin loss in operations and provide those companies with resources to support secure management of plastic resin.
