AISI Announced 3 Months Rolling Average of U.S. Finished Steel Imports

The October to December 2022 preliminary rolling average of finished steel imports from Turkey witnessed largest decline.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), based on preliminary U.S. Census Bureau data, announced the 3-month rolling average of imports of various finished steel mill products.

The preliminary 3-months rolling average of steel piling imports during the period from October and December 2022 surged the most, when compared with the final 3-month rolling average during the period from July to September 2022. The rolling average surged higher by 178.6%, surging higher from 5,000 net tons to 13,000 net tons. On the other hand, the imports during the current 3-months period ending December 2022 of Reinforcing bars dipped by 41.6%, when matched with the prior 3-months period.

The October to December 2022 preliminary rolling average of finished steel imports from Turkey witnessed largest decline, falling by 56.9% from the final 3-month rolling average between July and September last year. The imports from Vietnam too were down by 40.8% during the last quarterly period in 2022. On the other hand, imports from India witnessed 42.6% surge. The AISI reported notable surge in imports from the Netherlands and Germany during the 3-month period.

The 3-month rolling average of semi-finished and finished steel imports dipped by 14.5% and 10.2% respectively, when matched with the prior 3-months period.
