Alcoa Corporation Topped S&P Dow Jones Sustainability Indices

The ESG rankings for 2022 were finalized after evaluating more than 13,000 global companies.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Pittsburgh-based Alcoa Corporation has been included in the S&P Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI). This recognizes the company as a leader in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. It must be noted that Alcoa has been featured in the rankings since the inception of DJSI in 1999.

According to company press release, it received an ESG score in the 96th percentile. The company was named as the best in aluminum industry on the basis of environmental and governance criteria. It emerged as a leader in the environmental and social dimensions. The rankings demonstrate the company’s leadership position in sustainability initiatives in its industry peer group.

The ESG rankings for 2022 were finalized after evaluating more than 13,000 global companies.

Sonya Elam Harden, Alcoa’s Executive Vice President and Chief External Affairs Officer noted that the continuous recognition by way of inclusion in DJSI reflects the continuous efforts undertaken by the company to embed sustainability across its business and operations. Sustainability is one of the strategic priorities for the company, Harden noted.

Recently, the company was selected as one of America’s Most Responsible Companies by Newsweek magazine.
