worldsteel Announced Proud Finalists of steelChallenge-17 Championship

The finalists will now be invited to the World Championship in April 2023.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The World Steel Association (worldsteel) announced steelChallenge-17 World Championship Finalists. The winners were selected from the Regional Championship held online on 16th November 2022, which saw participation of nearly 1,298 participants from more than 70 companies and 80 academic institutions from 27 countries.

The finalists from ‘Student’ Category are: Gašper Krek, University of Ljubljana; Henry Shinji Jouti, Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA); Ashutosh Panda, Shavak Nanavati Technical Institute; Haiqing Liu, Chongqing University of Science and Technology and Guo Yu-Wei, National Chung Hsing University.

Meantime, the regional champions who qualified for the finals from ‘Industry’ Category are: Stefano Augusto David Feitoza, Sunrise Engenharia; Subhadeep Bakshi, Tata Steel Limited; Han Penglong, HBIS Group and Kwanhyeong Kim, POSCO. The Europe and Africa region did not complete a successful run.

The finalists will now be invited to the World Championship in April 2023. Also, all participants completing a successful run of the integrated simulator will receive a certificate of accomplishment. The World Championship will be held offline in Vienna, after a few years of virtual finals due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.
