Novelis Entered Into Multi-Year Partnership to Boost Aluminum Decarbonisation

The two companies have also agreed to work in partnership towards further optimisation of carbon emissions reductions in aluminum.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Novelis, Inc. announced that it has entered into a multi-year partnership agreement with the VELUX Group, by which it will provide high-recycled-content, flat-rolled aluminium for use in VELUX roof windows.

The new partnership aims to achieve carbon emissions of below 4.0 kilograms per kilogram of supplied rolled aluminium by the end of 2024. This is significantly below half the average carbon footprint of primary aluminium used in Europe. The partnership aims to achieve further carbon reductions by 2030. Moreover, it will support VELUX to achieve its goal of reducing emissions from the value chain by 50% by 2030.

According to Novelis press release, the supplied aluminum will have a recycled content of around 70%, higher by almost 30% compared with current supplies.

The two companies have also agreed to work in partnership towards further optimisation of carbon emissions reductions in aluminum.

Stephen Boney, Vice President, Specialty Products, Novelis Europe noted that the company is excited to help VELUX achieve its ambitious carbon emission reduction goals by supplying low-carbon, sustainable aluminium solutions. Meantime, Nikolaj Cederquist, Vice President, Global Procurement, VELUX Group stated that the agreement with Novelis marks the company’s second strategic aluminum partnership during the current year, the first being the one entered with Hydro in September 2022.
