U.S. Steel Attained Top Score on 2022 Disability Equality Index
This is the second time U. S. Steel received the “Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion” designation.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Pittsburgh-based leading steelmaker United States Steel Corporation (U.S. Steel) received the top score of 100 on the Disability Equality Index (DEI), in recognition of its measurable and tangible actions to ensure disability inclusion and equality at workplaces. The company has also been ranked among the “Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion.”
This is the second time U. S. Steel received the “Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion” designation.

The company’s SteelABILITY employee resource group played a major role in raising awareness of disability-related matters across facilities and developing a series of actions which helped the company achieve the top score of 100 this year.
Commenting on the achievement, Barry Melnkovic, Senior Vice President & Chief Human Resources Officer, U.S. Steel noted that succeeding with its previously announced “Inherent in our Best for All strategy requires the company to support and value the contributions of those who have disabilities and caregivers for those with disabilities.
The DEI is a joint initiative of the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and Disability:IN. The DEI ranks companies based on their performance against various indicators across culture, leadership, accessibility, employment practices, community engagement, support services and supplier diversity.
