The multimetal recycling facility will lead to significant reduction of waste.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): German-based Aurubis AG announced that it has broke ground on its secondary smelter for multimetal recycling in Augusta, Richmond County in Georgia. The total investment is estimated at around $320 million, thus making it one of the biggest international investments in the state of Georgia. The plant is expected to be fully operational by mid-2024.
Upon full operations, the facility will have the annual capacity to process about 90,000 tons of complex recycling materials. These include printed circuit boards, copper cables, and other recycling materials containing metals which are currently either landfilled or shipped to countries in Asia and Europe.
