ArcelorMittal CEO Honored with Steel Industry’s Highest Award

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) announced that John Brett, CEO of ArcelorMittal North America has been awarded the Gary Memorial Medal- the industry’s highest honor. Brett, a former chairman of the AISI Board of Directors, was awarded at the recently held AISI’s General Meeting in Washington, DC, held jointly with the Steel Manufacturers Association (SMA).

The prestigious award was presented by Leon Topalian, president and CEO of Nucor and current AISI chairman. After presenting the award, Topalian noted that Brett has been a tremendous leader and an outspoken advocate for the steel industry and that there is nobody more deserving of this honor than John. Furthermore, he thanked Brett for his dedication to the steel industry.
Also, the steel trade body presented the 2022 Institute Medal- the industry’s highest technical award to Gang Huang of ArcelorMittal and his research partners Adam D. Hodges, Lindsay Brown and Sarah Tedesco of General Motors LLC. The award winning paper was titled “Strain Amount and Strain Path Effects on Instrumented Charpy Toughness of Baked Third Generation Advanced High Strength Steels.”
