World Crude Steel Output Plummeted in April
The largest steel producing region was the Asia and Oceania, whose regional steel output totalled 121.40 Mt in April 2022.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The world crude steel production by 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) totalled 162.7 million tonnes (Mt) in the month of April this year, down by 5.10% compared to the same month a year before.
The largest steel producing region was the Asia and Oceania, whose regional steel output totalled 121.40 Mt in April 2022. The second largest producer was the EU-27 region, with an output of 12.30 Mt. In third place was North America, which recorded an output of 9.40 Mt. The output (in Mt) by the other regions is as follows: Africa (1.2), Russia & Other CIS + Ukraine (7.3), Other Europe (4.2), Middle East (3.3) and South America (3.6).

Worldf Crude Steel Output Plummeted in Q1 2022
Among various regions, only Other Europe region recorded year-on-year jump in crude steel output over the prior year month. The output by the region surged higher marginally by 0.5% year-on-year.
The output by Russia & Other CIS + Ukraine dropped the most, falling by 18.4% over the year. The Middle East steel output too witnessed significant decline by 14.5%. The monthly output by Africa and the EU-27 was down by 5.40% each over April 2021. The North and South American output dipped by 5.1% and 4.8% respectively. Meantime, Asia & Oceania output recorded year-on-year decline by 4.0%.
The topmost steel producing country was China, with an output of 92.8 Mt in April 2022. The other key steel producing countries were India (10.1 Mt) and Japan (7.5 Mt).
