Novelis Announced Launch of Net Zero Lab at Sierre Plant
The partnership will lower the carbon footprint of the manufacturing site.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Novelis, Inc.- the global leader in aluminum rolling and recycling announced launch of a joint research and development (R&D) laboratory at its Sierre, Switzerland plant towards advancing carbon neutral solutions in aluminum manufacturing.
The company has entered into long-term agreement with HES-SO Valais-Wallis in collaboration with EPFL of Energypolis Campus, a Swiss innovation and research hub, as well as energy distributor OIKEN. The research lab is named Net Zero Lab Valais.

During the initial months of the collaboration, the lab will conduct study to identify decarbonisation solutions and launch an ecosystem that will share the energy from its Sierre plant with the surrounding area. The partnership will lower the carbon footprint of the manufacturing site.
Emilio Braghi, Executive Vice President, Novelis Inc. and President, Novelis Europe said that Net Zero Lab Valais will develop innovative solutions that could be later implemented on a broader scale at its different production sites across the globe. The partnership with experienced players such as HES-SO Valais-Wallis, EPFL and OIKEN will help to drive carbon neutral production, he added.
