Aluminum Industry Join Forces to Develop New Technology Roadmap

The technology roadmap is considered as a unified blueprint that will lay the foundation for aluminum industry to grow and diversify within the automotive market.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Aluminum Association announced the release of a new technology roadmap in support of automotive customers. It details short, mid and long-term research and development (R&D) priorities and identifies opportunities for critical collaboration among various stakeholders to drive innovation throughout the next ten-year period.

Earlier in March last year, the Aluminum Association had brought together industry stakeholders to define and address current challenges, agree on goals and identify technology pathways top achieve those goals. It identifies major focus areas, which comprised of design engineering, new alloys and products, future vehicles, next-generation fabrication technologies and recycling & sustainability.

Charles Johnson, president and CEO of The Aluminum Association noted that the Roadmap provides value-driven steps needed to make large-scale closed-loop aluminum recycling a reality.

The technology roadmap is considered as a unified blueprint that will lay the foundation for aluminum industry to grow and diversify within the automotive market. It will be revisited over the next decade.
