According to the company, both the mines are expected to report a significant growth in their mineral reserves for 2021. The planned commissioning of the Nyabirama pit during the current quarter, along with the commencement of the Nyabigena pit in Q3 this year, will deliver significant progress in North Mara’s journey towards a fully integrated mine. The successful ramp up of mining and metallurgical operations in December 2021 has helped Bulyanhulu achieve steady state production.

Commenting on the milestone achievement, Mark Bristow, President and Chief Executive Officer said that the improved performance of the mines was supported by reinforced Covid-19 protocols and the rollout of vaccines to its workforce. The mines have continued to recruit and upskill local people, with Tanzanian national now accounting for almost 96% of its total workforce, he added.
