Top E-Waste Recycling Firm to Ramp Up Battery Recycling Capacity

The proposed investment, over the period of next nine months, will significantly ramp up the company’s battery recycling capacity.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading e-waste and lithium-ion battery recycler Attero Recycling announced its decision to invest INR 300 crore into lithium-ion recycling. The proposed investment, over the period of next nine months, will significantly ramp up the company’s battery recycling capacity.

According to company press release, the investment will boost the company’s lithium-ion battery recycling capacity from current levels of 1,000 metric tons per annum to nearly 11,000 metric tons per annum. The new enhanced recycling capacity will help Attero Recycling to capture approximately 22% of the potential market size by October next year, it noted.

Nitin Gupta, CEO, Attero Recycling noted that India generates over 50,000 tons of lithium-ion battery waste every year. Moreover, the volume of waste is projected to grow at a rapid pace over the coming years. The company aims to grow to such a level that it becomes self-sufficient in battery materials. The proposed investment will enhance its recycling capacity for lithium-ion batteries by 11 times, he added.

Earlier, the company had decide to ramp up its total electronic waste recycling capacity by more than double to 3,00,000 metric tons by the end of 2022, compared with the current capacity of nearly 1,44,000 lakh metric tons.
