Commercial Metals Company Highlights Sustainability Milestones

The company currently operates two micro mills with the third one expected to be commissioned in Mesa, Arizona during 2023.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Commercial Metals Company (CMC) announced publication of sustainability report for 2021. The report highlights industry-leading environmental performance against various performance indicators. It provides update on progress against the ambitious environmental goals established in its 2019/2020 report.

The company used 8.6 million tons of recycled material during the period of the report from September 1, 2020 to August 31, 2021. It had 103 facilities with zero incident rate. Along with achieving 89% water recycling and reuse rate, CMC reported 38% surge in electricity from renewable sources since 2019. In addition, the company posted 7.8% decrease in energy consumption intensity since 2019.

The company currently operates two micro mills with the third one expected to be commissioned in Mesa, Arizona during 2023. The new mill will be able to connect directly to renewable energy sources like solar and wind.
