Tenaris chooses Bay City, Texas as the destination for its new pipe plant

Tenaris, the leading supplier of tubes and related services announced that the company has chosen Bay City near Houston as the destination to set up its new seamless pipe facility.

HOUSTON (Scrap Monster) : Tenaris, the leading supplier of tubes and related services announced that the company has chosen Bay City near Houston as the destination to set up its  new seamless pipe facility.

The company anticipates an investment of around USD 1.5 billion. The unit consisting of heat treatment and premium threading facilities would have an annual production capacity of 600,000 tons of high quality seamless pipes sizes ranging from 4.5 to 9.5 inches. The facility is scheduled to begin its operation by end 2016.

The setting up of the new facility is likely to provide as many as 600 manufacturing jobs directly. This in a large manner is also poised to bring greater economic development in the surrounding areas.

The new facility situated very near to the company’s North American Headquarters in Houston, aims to cater to the increased local demand of pipes.

The announcement to this effect was made by German Cura, President of North American operations, Tenaris.
