AISI Praised House Bill to Address Unfair Trade
Furthermore, he urged both Republican and Democrat legislators to support this crucial bill.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) welcomed the introduction of new U.S. House Bill that aims to address the grave issue of unfair trade. The bipartisan legislation titled “Eliminating Global Market Distortions to Protect American Jobs Act of 2021” was introduced by Reps. Terri Sewell (D-AL) and Bill Johnson (R-OH) with the aim of further strengthening U.S. trade remedy laws, by enhancing available tools to combat repeat offenders of the law.

In a statement, Kevin Dempsey, President and CEO, AISI noted that the legislation will strengthen the effectiveness of the U.S. trade laws and will give American workers the confidence that their government has every potential tool available to fight for a level playing field against foreign competitors that seek to cheat the system. It is a companion piece to the bipartisan measure introduced earlier this year by Senators Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman, he said. Furthermore, he urged both Republican and Democrat legislators to support this crucial bill.
The bill creates a new process for successive investigations. AISI applauded the bill’s provisions to address “cross-border subsidization”.
