Hydro Made Notable Progress on State-of-the-Art Aluminum Recycling Plant
The facility, the first manufacturing plant located at Midwest Energy and Communication’s Smart Park, will be built at an investment of around $140 million.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Hydro Aluminum Metal business unit of Norsk Hydro announced that it is on track on its new state-of-the-art aluminum recycling plant in Cassopolis, Michigan.
The Greenfield development marks the first large-scale production of Hydro CIRCAL extrusion ingot in North America- a high-quality, low-carbon product. The ingot contains at least 75% post-consumer scrap, with a market-leading carbon footprint of just 2.3 kilograms equivalent per kg of aluminum.
The state-of-the-art facility will have capacity to produce 120,000 metric tons of aluminum extrusion ingots per year. The construction is set to commence by second quarter next year, with production expected to begin in 2023. The plant will generate approximately 70 employment opportunities.
