Sonoco To Acquire Assets of D&W Paper Tubes

The company produces 100% recycled paperboard convolute tubes, spiral tubes, yarn tubes and mailing and shipping tubes.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Hartsville, S.C.-headquartered Sonoco announced that it has acquired assets of D&W Paper Tubes, Inc.- a leading manufacturer of sustainable industrial paper tubes and cores based in Chatsworth, Georgia.

D&W Paper Tubes is a major supplier of cardboard cores to all of North America. Originally founded to supply the core needs of the carpet industry, it has diversified by expanding its capabilities to supply other industries such as vinyls, roofing and other heavy roll goods as well as packaging for the mailing and shipping markets. It had completed 20 years of operations in 2020.

The company produces 100% recycled paperboard convolute tubes, spiral tubes, yarn tubes and mailing and shipping tubes. The company expects to generate total sales of approximately $18 million during the current year.

Commenting on the acquisition, Howard Coker, President and Chief Executive Officer, Sonoco said that D&W is complementary to its Industrial Paper Packaging Segment. The acquisition will further strengthen its position serving the carpet and textile market in Northeast Georgia. In addition, it expects to drive business synergies from its integrated industrial products operations in the Southeast, he added.
