SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The leading metal recycler EMR Ltd. has committed to decarbonising its operations. The company anticipates a dramatic period of change for the business.

According to company press release, it has committed to an ambitious target to achieve net zero emissions by 2040. To this effect, it has launched a decade-long investment and transformation plan called ‘Our Decade of Action’. As part of the initiative, it aims to switch to 100% renewable electricity and introduce state-of-the-art technologies to further cut the emissions.

EMR Ltd. will invest in development of new techniques in support of production of green steel, green aluminum and green copper, which could be used in the manufacture of more sustainable products. As one among the world’s leading metal recyclers, the company expressed its commitment to take a leadership role in decarbonising the world and creating the circular economy.

Ian Sheppard, Managing Director of Metal Recycling, EMR stated that the company fully supports the path to a greener, cleaner economy. The efforts by the company will not only reduce the need for virgin materials, but also safeguard the company’s future, especially at a time when demand for sustainably recycled materials is on the rise, he added.
