According to Vinneth Bajaj, associate project manager at GlobalData, the output for the whole year 2021 is likely to remain more or less flat at around 27-28 million ounces. The companies had reported marginal dip in production by 1.1% during the first half of the year, mainly due to lower ore grades and reduced mill throughput. The highest production jump was reported by Agnico Eagle, whereas most significant production declines came from AngloGold Ashanti, Barrick Gold and Newcrest.
The report identifies China, Australia, Russia, the USA and Canada as the top five gold producing nations in 2021. The cumulative production from these countries is expected to grow by 5.7% over the year to total 50.8 million ounces during the year.
