Codelco Andina Mine Reached Agreement to End Legal Strike
The company had earlier signed a final labour deal with the unions representing employees at its El Teniente division.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Codelco Andina mine administration has reportedly reached an agreement with the Industrial Integration Labor Unions (SIIL) and Unified Workers’ Union (SUT), thus ending the legal strike, which began on August 12, by workers belonging to these unions.
The offer put forward by the company was approved by the SIIL and SUT unions, with a total of 478 votes in favour, corresponding to 53% of total workers belonging to both these unions. The newly agreed collective agreement will be valid for a period of 36 months. It offers 0% readjustment, a negotiation term bonus of around $4.5 million, in addition to incentives aligned with the productive roles and the ongoing transformation process within the division.

The company had earlier signed a final labour deal with the unions representing employees at its El Teniente division. The deal with the El Teniente and Caletones unions will now be in place until end-2024. It must be noted that the labour contract at the mine was due to expire in October this year.
Meantime, data published by the Chilean Copper Commission (Cochilco) said that the company boosted its copper output by 2.7% to 136,900 tonnes in July this year.
